Meet Me on The Paisley Roof
This zany coming-of-age story is narrated by sixteen-year-old Trussell growing up in Columbus, Georgia in the summer of 1956. He struggles to make peace with his nutty stepmother, who thinks she is on his hit list, and to fire up his courage to begin dating the love of his life Ellen. Two pals add problems and mischief with nighttime adventures launched from atop the neighbor's garage roof.
"Meet Me on the Paisley Roof is seamlessly and smoothly written. The writing is so good that the reader doesn't even realize he's consciously reading. The writing just generates a series of pictures in the mind's eye. This is the highest compliment I can pay." - Dan Roper, Editor, Georgia Backroads Magazine
"The book is one of the best coming of age stories I've read in several years... I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this book to any of my young adult patrons." - J.R. Clark IV, public librarian
"My hat goes off for a book that is playful yet should be considered as a serious contender for some of the best fiction I've read this year." - C.A. Web, Conversations Book Club
